Product Focus presentations
Monday 7th December
14:30 – 15:00 (CET)
Monolithic Silicon Photonics: Innovative Solutions for Co-packaged Optical Switches, Mike Davis, VP Marketing, Sicoya
An introduction to Sicoya’s co-integrated electronics/photonics technology for use in co-packaged optical switches
15:20- 15:40 (CET)
A coherent story on Integrated Photonics: Manufacturing a low-power chip for massive interconnect bandwidth, Nazanin Shafiee, Smart Photonics
The reality that we face around us today is: the world’s bandwidth demand is outpacing the ability of the industry to respond. This massive demand is due to the data explosion generated by the growth in areas such as social networks and digital entertainment, cloud computing, and IoT. Further, the pace of this upsurge has changed the dynamics of the market to the point that the metrics and the next-generation technology platforms are being driven by the market demand. We are seeing a transition from QSFP28/CFP transceiver modules to higher density QFSP-DD/OFSP modules. And PAM4/Coherent DWDM signalling emerging as predominant architectures for intra DC/Metro/Long Haul terminations. Join us for a conversation with Nazanin as she elaborates on why integrated photonics, and more specifically monolithic integration, is key in meeting current and future demands in datacom.
15:40~16:00 (CET)
WDM Technology based Solutions for 5G Fronthaul Connections, Dr. David Wei, Chief Technology Officer , SONT Technologies
2020 is the year when 5G deployment started ramping up across the globe, with China, US, Korea being leading the pack. This presentation provides an overview on various options for connecting 5G fronthaul networks. The topic is specifically focused on types of WDM technology based solutions. Pros and Cons of managed and unmanaged fronthaul connections are also compared. Values of solutions that SONT offers to carrier customers are presented.
Tuesday 8th December
10:55 – 11:25 (CET)
An Introduction to our Wireless Connectivity Range, Mike Milnes, Wireless Connectivity, Senko
This talk will cover the evolution of Senko’s Wireless Range of Connectivity including the latest exciting developments that have been designed with the changing face of the Wireless Industry in mind. It will touch on how these products came into being and how they fit into the current and future Wireless Infrastructure
15:00 – 15:15 (CET)
A Transformative Architecture with Point-to-Multipoint Optics (XR Optics), Fady Masoud, Solutions Marketing Director, Infinera
This session describes how Point-to-Multipoint Coherent Optics (XR Optics) significantly reduce total cost of ownership (more than 70%) while dramatically simplifying the network and building a transformative and multi-generational architecture. It also briefly describes XR Optics’ deployment model and target applications
15:15 – 15:30 (CET)
ROADMs at the Edge of the Network, Rajkumar Nagarajan, Product Line Management, Transport Subsystems, Lumentum
The benefits of using ROADMs in the Metro Core and the Long Haul portion of the network are well understood. With the introduction of 5G, Edge computing and Content Caching, the last mile of the network will see increasing levels of unplanned traffic growth. Today’s fixed OADM aggregation networks do not scale well for this sort of unpredictable traffic demand, so there is a need for an Edge ROADM to enable operational flexibility and efficiency.. This presentation will discuss the requirements for Edge ROADM and will propose technology options that can be economically deployed and can lower the total cost of ownership.
Wednesday 9th December
10:00 – 12:00 (CET)
EPIC Tech Watch – EPIC Association
Introduction by Jose Pozo, CTO at EPIC
EPIC invites you to a two-hour trip through the whole photonics supply chain of Optical Communications. This includes component design, fabrication, packaging and test, and their deployment in current and future optical networks. This event will be EPIC style, with the energy of Jose Pozo as moderator and with the purpose of all participants, not only speakers, to answer the so called EPIC question: what can you do for the others/what can the others do for you?
12: 55 – 13:10 (CET)
New MAP-300 modules and features, Paul Avison, Solutions Consultant, VIAVI
2020 and 2021 will bring new test challenges, particularly around emerging 400G standards. VIAVI Solutions has released a range of new modules and features that provide the toolkit to test and calibrate the new families of pluggable modules.
