PHIX builds series of PIXAPP designed PIC modules
Stand 925
22nd July 2020
PHIX is a packaging foundry for photonic integrated circuits, based in The Netherlands. In May, they built the first series of commercial prototype modules based on a Tyndall design made available to the PIXAPP consortium for photonic packaging foundries in Europe. These modules involve the assembly of a silicon photonics integrated circuit (PIC) onto an electronic PCB that has an integrated thermo-electric cooler (TEC) mounted below it. For ease of assembly, the optical fiber array was connected using a grating coupler with alignment loops. A modified version of this design is available which allows for edge coupled photonic chip assembly.
