MicroAlign is a Dutch startup founded in 2021 that has developed a micro-actuator capable of aligning several densely spaced fibers simultaneously. The actuator can be used to perform active alignment of each fiber to produce high-accuracy pitch fiber arrays. This would be a significant milestone for the photonic packaging industry to reduce fiber-to-chip coupling losses. MicroAlign has recently secured a seed funding round that will enable further product development toward initial applications in quantum photonic computers and for high port count photonic chip packaging where each photon matters.
