WaveLogic™ 6 Nano (WL6n) 1.6T Coherent-Lite pluggable, enabled by Ciena’s unique engineering innovations, offers fit-for-purpose 800LR and 1.6T Coherent-Lite solutions optimized for the interconnect of geographically distributed GPU clusters for AI factories at hyperscale. WL6n 1.6T Coherent- Lite implements Ciena’s vertically integrated DSP, electro-optics, and high-speed packaging to deliver the performance, footprint, and power efficiency to support high-performance data center fabric (2km) and campus (up to 20km) applications. The 3nm coherent ASIC used in WL6n enables the 1.6T pluggable through support of 1.6TbE client support, 224G SerDes electrical lanes, and dual 800LR data paths within a single DSP chip. At 1.6T line rates, the power consumption of coherent and IMDD designs begins to converge, while Coherent-Lite provides higher loss budget, crosstalk mitigation, and greater capacity per fiber with WDM.
