Ciena recently issued a global study on communication service providers’ (CSPs) growing optimism toward Artificial Intelligence (AI). This study, conducted with Censuswide, surveyed over 1,500 engineers and managers at CSPs in 17 countries across the globe.

A key theme of the study showed that AI will enhance network performance. Over half (60%) of the respondents believe that AI can improve network efficiency by 40% or more, and 85% expressed confidence in CSPs’ ability to monetize AI traffic across networks.

Additionally, CSPs believe AI will require upgrades in fiber network infrastructure, switches, routers, and 800G technology.
