Getter integration is the most reliable and cost-effective way to improve the inner atmosphere of photonic packages, removing detrimental contaminants like moisture, Hydrogen and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) even at very low concentrations. Dispensable getters like ZeDry/H2 (to sorb moisture and hydrogen) and ZeDry/VOC (to sorb moisture and VOC) can be easily integrated as a coating on lids or other components. ZeDry formulations are solventless and totally reversible, allowing the coated lids to be handled in air: the getter can be reactivated at the very moment of device bakeout and sealing, without impacting on standard assembly processes.
