Genexis expands with acquisition of PacketFront CPE business

21 February 2012

Dutch-based customer premises equipment (CPE) specialist Genexis has been busy in the last few weeks.  On 1 February, it acquired PacketFront’s CPE business unit for an undisclosed sum.

Genexis has ambitions to grow beyond Europe.  “The PacketFront leading CPE portfolio, its market presence and customer base, is a perfect complement to our company. The addition of PacketFront’s CPE group to Genexis is an important step towards becoming the leading player in home gateways for the FTTH market worldwide,” said Gerlas van den Hoven, CEO of Genexis.

For PacketFront, the deal enables it to concentrate on its service provider portfolio while retaining access to the CPE products. “After this divestiture PacketFront can focus on its three remaining businesses, our FTTH Access Division, our FTTH Network Solution Division and PacketFront Software Solutions AB,” said Henrik Scharp, CEO of PacketFront. “In addition, PacketFront will now be able to offer an even more comprehensive portfolio of CPE products as part of its FTTH Network Solutions offering to existing and future direct customers as a distribution partner of Genexis.”

PacketFront’s CPE activities have been transferred to a new subsidiary, Genexis AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
