XKL commits to flexible network architecture with range of inline amplifiers

XKL, a developer of fibre optic networking systems, has announced a new generation of amplifier products, integrated with the rest of its DarkStar family. The inline amplifier solutions are all Class 1M laser products, thus allowing for simple deployments and management.

Lumentum unveils higher output power 200W pump laser

Source leverages established, reliable pump platform; accelerates development of 2kW+ fibre lasers.

Lumentum has added a 200 W output power fibre-coupled pump laser module – called the ST2 – to its portfolio. This new diode laser leverages the established record of Lumentum’s high-brightness pump laser range.

The ST2 supports the build-your-own kilowatt laser market. Available now in volume quantities, the ST2 diode laser was first showcased at SPIE Photonics West, earlier in February in San Francisco, Calif.

NeoPhotonics, a developer of advanced hybrid photonic integrated optoelectronic modules and subsystems for bandwidth-intensive networks, has begun sampling its 400G CFP8 transceiver modules, designed for data center interconnection and client side telecom applications. This CFP8 represents the first step on the company’s 400G roadmap for data center and client applications.

The all-in-one Network Master™ Flex MT1100A supports all the latest communications technologies. Selecting and installing up to two modules from three options allows the MT1100A to conduct comprehensive R&D, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance tests of network and transport equipment, operating at bit rates from 1.5 Mbps to 100 Gbps. The MT1100A supports R&D of the latest OTN 400 Gbps technologies using client signals, including Ethernet, CPRI, Fibre Channel, SDH/SONET and PDH/Dsn. It can perform mapped OTN client-signal tests under near-to-live conditions for faster troubleshooting.

Albis Optoelectronics extends portfolio of mounted photodiodes

The Albis avalanche and pin photodiode portfolio can now be supplied as flip-chip bonded or wire-bonded devices on customized 2D or 3D (wrap-around) carriers and the PS20X4 consists of an array of four, flip-chip soldered 28 Gbps lensed photodiodes that can be used as the core building block inside a 100G ROSA module. All photodiode products are completely manufactured in-house, in fully owned, clean-room facilities.

FSAN reveals access roadmap for the next decade

The Full Service Access Network (FSAN) has outlined its vision for fibre access networks for the coming decade.

FSAN is an industry forum that includes over 20 operators and has 70 members. The group identifies service requirements and develops optical access technologies that it passes to the ITU for standardisation.

Operators begin the transition to XGS-PON

Telefonica is the latest operator to test XGS-PON, the 10-gigabit passive optical networking standard.

“Operators want to show they are taking the maximum from their fibre investment,” said Ana Pesovic, marketing manager for fibre at Nokia, a supplier of the XGS-PON equipment used for the operator’s lab tests. “Telefonica has been really aggressive in their fibre deployments in the last couple of years.”

Used in embedded module applications, the MOI is designed for efficient coupling between on-board active components and US Conec’s PRIZM LightTurn connector, which utilises expanded beam-lensed ferrule technology.
